CPER Convenings

Each year, CPER hosts an annual convening that brings together representatives from all the CPER grantee organizations, donors and invited guests from across the country to share what they are learning about systemic education reform and to explore and deepen their understanding of the common issues, themes, challenges and opportunities that are emerging in their organizing and policy reform efforts. The Convenings create opportunities to build relationships among leaders, organizers, funders and others across and beyond the four CPER sites.

In planning these Convenings, CPER aims to:

  • Explore opportunities for community-led systemic education reform - at the local, state and national levels
  • Draw upon and respect participants' experiences and knowledge
  • Contain a mix of formal and informal learning activities
  • Engage resource people who have content knowledge and the ability to engage participants in active discussion
  • Provide opportunities for executive directors, organizers, parent leaders, youth leaders and funders to meet together and separately

The first CPER Convening was held April 3rd - 5th, 2008 in Chicago.

The second CPER Convening was held May 28th - 30th in Philadelphia. For highlights from the 2009 Convening, check out the 2009 CPER Convening page!

CPER's third annual Convening was hosted May 20th - 22nd in Denver, CO.
