ALI Youth Media Symposium Releases "A Faulty Re-Design"

The Abbott Leadership Institute Youth Media Symposium at Rutgers University in Newark, challenges high school students to discover their voices and to use media technology to reach parents and other young people with their message for change.

In June 2009, the New Jersey State Board of Education adopted proposals to increase New Jersey's high school graduation requirements, and create new end of course exams which students must pass to earn a diploma. The Youth Media Symposium asks, "Why more tests, instead of changing schools to address the issues keeping kids from doing their best in school?"

"A Faulty Re-Design" is a DVD produced by the students in conjunction with the NJ Education Organizing Collaborative, a CPER sponsored education advocacy project in Newark, Paterson, and Jersey City.
