With roots in the struggle for educational justice, Padres y Jóvenes Unidos is a multi-issue organization led by people of color who work for equality and justice in education, youth and immigrant rights. Padres y Jóvenes Unidos challenges the root cause of discrimination, racism and inequity by exposing the economic, social and institutional basis for injustice, as well as developing effective strategies and tactics to shift power and achieve institutional change.
CPER Funded Project
Padres' CPER-funded work includes:
- Ensuring that Denver Public Schools (DPS) provides a college prep curriculum for all students;
- Removing barriers to higher education for undocumented students;
- Ensuring that the elementary and middle schools feeding into North High School provide students with academic curriculum that prepares all students to meet the new graduation requirements and attend college, while removing all institutional barriers to achieve the same; and
- Expanding into districts in the Denver metropolitan region with large immigrant populations.
