Since 1973, the Education Law Center (ELC) has been an advocate for urban school improvement. The core mission of ELC is to improve the education of disadvantaged children to allow them to compete effectively in the economy and to participate actively in civic affairs. ELC works to improve educational opportunities for low-income students and students with disabilities through public education, policy initiatives, research, communications and, when necessary, legal action.

CPER Funded Project

ELC serves as a policy information and communications resource to the New Jersey organizing groups and as a technical assistance provider to the New Jersey CPER collaborative. ELC's CPER funded work includes:

  • Providing training to advocates, organizers and parent leaders in the three communities of Newark, Paterson and Jersey City.
  • Providing technical assistance/training on the use of ELC's data repository; and
  • Providing campaign-related agenda development to CPER partners and supporting the infusion of organizing strategies in the overall school funding campaign.
